DOES MY HOME NEED AN AIR PURIFIER?

Updated: Mar 8, 2023

I think we have all heard the statistic that is being thrown around regarding the amount of time we spend indoors (up-to 90%), and while that statistic isn’t scary as a stand-alone; what is alarming is the quality of that indoor environment.

As we increasingly spend more and more time inside air-sealed, temperature controlled, no fresh-air environments where contaminates stemming from things like building materials, furniture and finishes are slowly leaching their toxins into the air that we then breathe.

Poor indoor air quality (IAQ) can contribute to the following symptoms: Itchy eyes, runny nose, sinus congestion, sneezing, wheezing, headaches, fatigue, hypersensitivity and allergies, dizziness and nausea, just to name a few.

There are two categories when talking about who is best serves by air purification, those who NEED it (people with allergies) and those who WANT it (those who care about their health).

PLANTS ARE NATURES AIR PURIFIERS

ALLERGIES / ASTHMA & OTHER RESPIRATORY DISORDERS

People who suffer from the unfortunate seasonal allergies can be affected by many unavoidable environmental pollutants such as grasses, dust, weeds, pollen or even mold. Many of these things are unavoidable but can be mitigated through the use of air filtration.

When it comes to asthma and other breathing disorders, a clean, non-polluted environment is a life essential. Most people think only of outdoor pollutants as triggers for asthmatics, but out indoor environments can be up to 5x worse that outside, triggering seriously symptoms of attacks inside the home.

HEALTH CONSCIOUS CONSUMERS

This is where most of my clients fall. People who have started their heath journeys usually with diet, exercise, swapping out household items such as cleaners, laundry detergents and beauty products to name a few. I usually meet clients when they have started to look around them and begun to realize that their homes can have an almost all encompassing effect on their overall health.

CONCLUSION

If you fall into either of the above categories then my answer is YES. I always recommend air purification to all clients, regardless of size or age of the home, family setup or any other factors. I believe it is one of the best investments you can make for yourself and your family (especially for kids).
